Natural Technologies Italia S.r.l. together with a European Consortium with research led by Pera, have recently successfully completed Seasurf - a two-year EC project to develop novel industrial metal degreasing formulations based on natural surfactants derived from sustainable harvested brown kelp seaweed.
Two commercially viable formulations were developed, each having very significant health, safety and environmental benefits over existing solvent and aqueous based metal cleaning chemicals. Both formulations are highly effective at ambient temperature (30°C) which offers cost savings in terms of energy over most currently used aqueous cleaners.
Market analysis and contacts with industry has confirmed that there is a large and growing market for this environmentally friendly product. With highly competitive production costs, long product shelf life, plus the health, safety and environmental benefits, these products offer key advantages over existing products.
