Prodrive - ‘Wheel’ be back
Novel team building event at Middle Aston Leadership Centre
A novel team building event at Middle Aston Leadership Centre provided a rare opportunity for finance staff from a leading motorsport company to get their hands dirty.
Banbury-based Prodrive, which currently runs rally and race programmes for some of the biggest names in the sport, including Subaru and Aston Martin, regularly makes use of the facilities available at Middle Aston.
On this occasion event organisers Bobbie Mardle and Charlie Mann saw an opportunity to introduce a new team activity. Instead of the traditional wooden planks and rope they asked the company to provideone of its famous Subaru rally cars.
The Prodrive teams were then challenged to change the wheels against the clock. 'We can all see how important team work is during a pit stop when we watch Formula One races on TV, so we wanted to replicate this challenge with a rally car,' says Bobbie Mardle. 'Although the teams provide financial services for Prodrive they rarely have the opportunity to get their hands dirty on the cars.' Following the 'pit stop' challenge, the teams were quized on their knowledge of engine parts. The event finished with dinner and prize giving.
