UK Trade and Investment Fiscal Stimulus Initiative
The Fiscal Stimulus Initiative is part of UK Trade & Investment's response to the global economic downturn.
In difficult times, businesses need to be flexible and innovative and seek out opportunities where they exist. Fiscal stimulus packages and major spending programmes are being announced around the world, which will create global supply chain opportunities for UK firms. UK Trade & Investment has recognised this and has enhanced its support by focusing a team of 10 Business Specialists to help companies of all sizes to identify these opportunities.
The Business Specialists aim to:
- identify supply chain opportunities from global Fiscal Stimulus packages by working closely with UK Trade & Investment colleagues in British diplomatic Posts overseas,
- raise awareness amongst UK-based companies, providing value-added professional input to business briefings, seminars, overseas missions and other events,
- engage with multipliers to reach a wider community of UK-based companies,
- develop and maintain networks of global suppliers and customer contacts, which will enable UK companies to deliver a global competitive advantage,
- offer first line business advise and signposting to UK clients who wish to capitalise on these opportunities.
Project teams made up of overseas Posts, UK Trade & Investment teams and Business Specialists select global opportunities to distil into specific business propositions for dissemination to UK sectors and companies.
The Fiscal Stimulus Initiative's sharply-focused activity aims to reach around 1,000 UK-based companies, raising awareness of designated global spending packages and of specific propositions offering significant new opportunities for boosting business.
